Overview
This 8-day Kenya and Tanzania family safari has been crafted with a focus on budget-conscious travelers who want to experience the best of East Africa’s wildlife and culture without breaking the bank. The journey takes you through some of the most iconic national parks in both countries, including Amboseli National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. The safari includes stays in budget-friendly accommodations, ensuring that your family enjoys warm hospitality while keeping costs manageable.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya’s largest gateway for international travelers. You will be met by our company representative and transferred to your Nairobi hotel. If you’re not too tired from your flight, an optional Nairobi city tour can be arranged. Dinner and overnight stay in Nairobi.
After breakfast, you’ll depart for Amboseli National Park, located 240 km from Nairobi (approximately 6 hours by road). Known for its incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro and free-roaming elephants, Amboseli offers a unique wildlife experience. Check-in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Expect to see wildlife such as zebras, cheetahs, Cape buffalo, impalas, and more. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Spend a full day exploring Amboseli National Park, which is rich in diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. Visit Observation Hill for panoramic views of the park’s plains and swamps, and look for elephants, wildebeest, hyenas, and more. The full-day game drive allows you to discover the park in-depth. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you’ll cross into Tanzania and head to Lake Manyara National Park. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, the park is home to a wide range of wildlife, including giraffes, buffalo, zebras, hippos, and elephants. After checking in at your accommodation, enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
On this day, you’ll head to Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous parks in the world. It’s possible to witness the Big Five and, if you’re traveling during the Great Wildebeest Migration, millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles crossing the plains. Check-in at your lodge and enjoy the rest of the day soaking in the scenic surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti.
After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. Explore the park’s endless plains where you’ll spot wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, lions, and more. You may also encounter crocodiles, hippos, and monkeys near the Grumeti River, or elephants and giraffes in the northern Serengeti. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you’ll leave Serengeti for Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The crater is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, making it one of the best places in Africa for game viewing. After an en-route game drive, descend into the crater for a memorable wildlife experience. Look out for rhinos, buffalos, wildebeests, and more. Return to your accommodation in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you’ll head to Arusha to conclude your family safari. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to visit local markets or enjoy a relaxing morning before heading to the airport. Alternatively, the tour can be extended with a beach holiday in Zanzibar.
